Analysis of HOTARU Final Submission Paper (Area 3, Artifact 1)
Description: This was my final submission paper for my engineering fair, which was the beginning of the HOTARU drone project. This includes an introduction, literature review, background research section, and a step by step documentation of my drone building process. This was written and submitted by Judson, Linh, and me to the Innovation Fair two years ago. Defense: Since my engineering fair was two years ago, much of my drone knowledge has flown off into the clouds since then. It was vital for me to look back at notes and documents such as this final submission paper to refresh my knowledge of the HOTARU in order to continue the project.
Battery Holder 3D Print (Area 3, Artifact 2)
Description: This was the final 3D print of the HOTARU drone's battery attachment. Although it can still be improved, it currently serves as a lock system to secure the drone's batteries, which can amount to up to four at a time. There are velcro strips attached to them for easy access of the batteries. I plan to connect the battery attachments to the top of the drone where operators can easily change out batteries quickly and efficiently. Defense: The battery attachment was one of the last major aspects I needed to complete on the drone. Without it, we could not safely fly the drone because of the possibility that the batteries would fall off. Having them customized and 3D printed allowed me to be able to safely secure the batteries without any unnecessary movement of the batteries.
